Askesis Packaging
Protection engineered around the product.
Material-efficient, geometry-driven and designed for circularity. Askesis redesigns everyday packaging so protection comes from smart geometry rather than more material — starting from a real, measured performance gap in an existing format, and without asking the customer to pay more.
Our approach
Three questions every Askesis pack has to answer.
We do not sell material substitutions or generic “green” claims. Each concept has to name the unmet requirement it solves, match a real market benchmark, and reach the customer at the same or lower delivered price.
Performance gap
We only take on an application where the current pack has a specific, reproducible failure — moisture, barrier, breakage, leakage, cold-chain or handling. The gap is defined before any design begins.
Minimum material
Protection should come from geometry and smart construction, not from adding mass. We use the least material the job needs, favour fibre-first and recyclable routes, and design for a responsible end of life.
Price parity
A sustainable pack that costs more rarely gets adopted. Every concept is measured against real market benchmarks on a complete-system basis and is only pursued when it can compete on delivered price.
Where we focus
Application areas we are developing.
Our work is organised around customer problems rather than a single material. Specific constructions, formulations and performance data are confidential and shared only under agreement.
Keeping produce fresher, longer
Packs tuned to how fruit, vegetables and flowers breathe, hold moisture and travel through the cold chain — reducing waste and reliance on plastic trays and films.
Strength where it stays wet
Fibre-first formats engineered to hold up against ice, meltwater and heavy wet-stacking, as an alternative to expanded-plastic boxes and heavily laminated cartons.
Barrier and containment, done leaner
Trays and modules that address gas barrier, leak and contact-protection needs for meat, poultry and fish, developed with named processors around their actual lines.
Heat, grease and leak resistance
Formats aimed at hot, oily and gravy-based foods and reheated meals, targeting real corner-leak, distortion and grease-resistance failures without unnecessary coatings.
Paper-first barrier packs
Moisture-, oxygen- and aroma-sensitive products protected with far less polymer and foil than a conventional laminate, while keeping seal and shelf-life performance.
Precision, with less mixed material
Bottles, tubes, closures and dosing components rethought so precision parts use bio-based material only where genuinely needed, and separate cleanly for recycling.
Cushioning from geometry
Zoned, load-path-driven fibre protection and edge guards that protect precisely where impact happens — an alternative to solid foam blocks.
Right-sized cold-chain shippers
Foldable, fibre-based insulated shippers sized to the actual journey, with reusable thermal elements, in place of oversized expanded-plastic boxes.
Freshness you can read
A clean, removable way to add temperature or freshness indicators to a pack when the customer can act on the data — designed not to compromise end of life.
How we work
Evidence before claims.
Status & confidentiality
Early-stage, and deliberately careful about what we claim.
Askesis is an early-stage company. The large majority of this portfolio is at the research and development stage, and the descriptions on this page are indicative of intent rather than finished, certified products.
